
Ken Harker is a web performance expert, helping customers distill complex performance data into actionable business intelligence. He thrives in tasks that derive clarity from complexity.
Ken has over 20 years of experience analyzing and interpreting network and web performance measurements. Since 2017, Ken has been at Akamai Technologies, focusing as a web performance consultant for some of the largest enterprises in the world. Today, he leads a small team of web performance experts and data scientists that specialize in helping customers leverage real user measurements and other performance data to transform their users’ online experiences and improve their business outcomes. His speaking engagements at conferences and webinars have included Yankee Group, O’Reilly Velocity, and Internet Retailer conferences.
Ken lives in laid-back Austin, Texas. He earned his first amateur radio license in 1993 and currently holds an Extra class license and the call sign WM5R. In 2018, he was captain of Team USA at the World Amateur Radio Direction Finding Championships in Sokcho, Korea, where he also took home a bronze medal in one of the team events. More recently, Ken has also taken up distance running and since 2019 has completed three marathons (Houston, Berlin, and Los Angeles).
